Installation of depth finder

I did this a few years ago after bumping rocks a few times. I used a cheap Garmin 90 FishFinder, cut in a water-tight cicular hatch below the bed, port side of the keel, then made an epoxy mix with as few bubbles as possible. I used some wood scraps against the lower side of the vee-berth to push the sensor into the epoxy and let it set overnight.
I don't get good sensitivity to 'see' fish clearly, but I have checked it at shallow depths with a hand line, and against other depth measurements to 140ft (Max of our lake) and it's fine.
Happy sailing!
