subject:Center Board Stuck?
I have a 1978 MkII and live on mud beach where my keel has stuck in the up position. I found rather than banging on the keel, using leverage works pretty well. I wait for the tide to come in, use a standard 8' 2x4, about a 10" of a broom handle into the cockpit drain hole, and attach a short pice of chain to the lockdown bolt. By putting the stick into the drain hole securing the 2x4 inside the loop of chain attached to the lock bold, pushing down on the end of the 2x4 will loosen a very stuck keel. One note, attach a lanyard to the broom handle stick, or you may have to fish it out of the keel box.
