subject:More discussion on lee helm and tiller balance
It has just occured to me at our last race that I do have weather helm. Provided your definition of weather helm is that when you let go of the tiller the boat heads into the wind. However I still have the tiller pointed to lee to keep the boat going straight. This must mean that I have a problem with sail trim. I was fiddleing a lot with it last weekend at our Treasure Island Regatta, and got it neutral in moderate winds but in light winds it still was not pointing to weather. So the question to the brain trust is. Do I keep raking my mast back until I get the tiller pointed to weather to go straight, or only enough to have the boat head into the wind when you let go of the tiller and keep working on mainsail trim?
