subject:Running riggingfor Mk1
I was told that I should consider replacing my standing and running rigging. My standing rigging is in good shape, but some of the running rigging is questionable. The pulleywheels in the shackles are starting to deteriorate. As I mentioned earlier, I restore old aircraft and have to fabricate many different items that no longer exist, so I was wondering where I might get these wheels, drill them out and replace them in the shackle housing with new shaft and wheel? I need about 10 or 12 of them. Where is a good place to purchase the whole shackle? I made my first screw up in the restoration today, I was cleaning up the boom and one area near the mast was severely tarnished, so I got some of my super duper aircraft aluminum polish and got every bit of the tanish off that area of the boom and I also removed the annodization as well. It's shiney there now! I will probably have to paint it with something that will protect it from corrosion. Duh!
