When I painted my boat bottom, I did not lift it off the trailer. I sailed it to the waters edge near the marina, then pulled it over on it's side with the retracted keel out of the water. dryed it off with towels and painted every thing above water. Let it dry, let it back up, turned the boat around, pulled it over again then painted the other side.
I've done this before just to wash the bottom. I think I added some line to the jib/genoa halyard and pulled the boat over and tied it to something. Did this by myself - I think it would be somewhat easier with a helper. Might be worth a try. - Jim
