subject:Shroud Length
On Charmed Juan, my spreaders are at the 25" length. The standard length shrouds fit justs fine on my boat. Mine is a MKII and I have lowered the chainplate 1/2".
Lowering the chainplates is one way to accomodate shortening the spreaders from 29" to 25".After thinking about this, I realized that shortening the shrouds resulting from shortening the spreaders on each end will have 'somewhat' compensating effects on the length of the shrouds both above and below the spreaders. Although the length of the shroud above the spreaders will be shortened, the length from the spreaders to the deck will be "slightly" lengthened as well. So, the overall shortening in shroud length can't be calculated solely by figuring the difference in length above the spreaders. - Jim
