New Chainplates

I was able to add a new chainplate for my split backstay without drilling any new holes in my MK I. What I did was crawl back inside the boat and expose the three starboard bolts which hold the original motor mount in place (these were just covered by a thin skin inside the hull). Then I got a tang long enough to reach from the bolts up through the hull to the outside and drilled holes in the tang to match the hole pattern of the motor mount. Then it was just a matter of cutting a slot in the hull big enough to put the tang through, bolt it together and seal it up. If you do it right it will look just like the original backstay tang on the other side.
