Seems like you have something we do not have very often on the Hudson River. Wind! I guess Fausto DeGuzman is the skipper of the boat -- or that is the boat's name ... meaning .. Fast Skipper ? Well, whatever the skipper does a pretty good job single-handing his boat.

I loop a bungi cord over the tiller down to the latch on the rear compartment. When I release the tiller -- it gets pulled back to center. This still allows me to use the tiller without having to disconnect anything.
