Greg, et al...You've hit it right on the head, and now you all understand our quanundrum(?). We want all to understand that we, Fleet 5, are NOT in the position to make the determination of legality on rudder size and shape without the guidance of the Cheif measurer and National Board, unless we are told to strictly follow the guidlines and limitations on rudder dimension which are in the bylaws. But these are inconsistant between verbage and drawings, as both myself and Greg have pointed out. We are asking for guidance, yet are willing to "overlook" this specific issue, if allowed to by our governing body. Bottom line, we really want to promote as large a turnout as we can, not for any personal gains, mind you, but to have the opportunity to race against as many of our 30+ year old, appliance colored beauties as we can.
As I stated in my last posting, it is Fleet 5's intention to monitor all requirements for National regatta racing, including sail measurement and boat inspection. We await contact from the National Board regarding what remains...RudderGate. Thanks for your comments and considerations. LV
