Greetings. It seems appropriate that I weigh in with a few comments in that I assumed the role of National Commodore at the first of the year and have noted some of the recent postings. These postings expressing concerns and frustrations have not fallen on deaf ears; there are some important issues that need to be addressed by the Assn officers.The officers are all volunteers and have arrived in their present roles through different channels and in various ways. We are spread across the country, in some cases have yet to meet each other, and have different approaches with respect to current communication techniques. Moreover, almost 1/2 of the Exec Committee are new to the board.
Having stated the above, we are holding the first meeting of 2009 via conference call the week of 25 January. This initial meeting should provide us with an opportunity to set our work plan for the year as well as address the important issues that have been recently been discussed in this forum. I think I speak accurately when I state that information from this meeting will appear on this site.
Constructive input is always welcome; welcome even more is the willingness to participate in the Association and assist in putting in place the structures and systems that will make class membership a benefit to its members and a source of pride for those of us who enjoy sailing a 21.
I do not normally engage in on-line forums, but realize that communication is an important aspect of what we are doing. More later.
