Hacker,

We encourage inclusion into our forum. We like to help new and potential members.

First, If there is a fleet in your area, contact them and they will most likely help you with the inspection of your boat. If you live in the Northwest, Contact me and I will help.

If you are somewhere else, the things to check are;

1. Soft deck. Walk on the deck around the mast and forward. If the deck is not firm, then the core has rotted. The deck is a Fiberglass/Balsa wood/Fiberglass composite. Water often gets into the wood and it rots. It's a pain to repair.

2. Keel. Make sure it goes up and down. Make sure the Sheaves are functioning. The major cause of keel cable failure it that the sheaves have seized up.

3. Leaks. Put the boat in the water and make sure there are no leaks. Open the inspection holes and look inside to see if there is any water in there.

Most everything else is standard sailboat inspection.

Feel free to ask any questions you want. We are here to help.
