Mast Crutch: Don't need one. Mast "stern" support: Crutch fits in rudder fittings and allows the mast to be flat from the top of the bow pulpit to the top of the crutch. We do put a PVC pipe section under the middle of the mast to keep it from bouncing when on the road. (fits where the mast sits when up)

Trailer: All three of mine have been carpet over wood but several friends use rollers. All seem to work fine.
