subject:I miss my Subie
Subie's are great vehicles, and a forester will most definitely pull the boat out of the lake, and even 30 miles down the road. The problem she has, is that the recommended towing gear is 3rd (and you need that going up hills), so that limits you to about 55mph on a flat road...so no interstate (at least not safely). The second issue is the brakes. Subies have large 4 wheel disks, so they do pretty well stopping. However, because of the light weight of the vehicle, you still had to anticipate (i.e. actually concentrate) when you towed it. Overall, a great vehicle for around town towing, but long distance would wear her out. That's why I traded for a larger vehicle (Chrysler Pacifica) which I now regret. The Subie was just so much better.
